Genesis Counseling of the Rockies helped me discover the self I thought I had lost. I regained confidence and clarity to move forward, and felt truly supported by the staff and counselors.

Hands down one of the best things that’s happened to me.

I came to Genesis counseling via the same route that anyone would. I had started my classes/therapy out in Lakewood, and after moving to Littleton was recommended to Genesis. I met Kerry for intake and was immediately impressed. I had sought out other addiction counselors before, but due to my own personality I’ve always struggled to ‘click’ with one. I had no such issue with Kerry. She was warm and welcoming, understanding, and also not afraid to give “tough love” when it was needed. As a former alcoholic herself, who managed to get sober, go into a career in counseling, and eventually buy out the practice she worked in, Kerry had my immediate respect. Even now that my treatment has completed, I still know I can keep in touch with her and ask for help if I’m not doing well.

You simply will not find a better counselor in this area than Kerry.

I came to Genesis Counseling of the Rockies at one of the lowest points in my life. The owner/counselor, Kerry, was amazing. She did not judge me for my mistakes. She was compassionate and sincerely interested in trying to help me through my circumstance. Not just a customer. She helped me feel as comfortable as I probably could have as I started this program. I am so much more self aware. This is huge because as with any problem, you have to identify it before you can fix it. Through her guidance in group and individual sessions I have learned what I need to do to be successful in not making the same kind of poor decision(s) I made that sent me to this program. I will be able to apply what I have learned in this program to so many different areas of my life. I hate that I had to go through this, but it was one of the best things for me and the people who love me. I will be a better version of myself because Kerry made this program relatable and real. Ok, this is going to sound like an ad, but if you need help, don’t wait to get in trouble. She can help guide you through your hard time. Thank you Kerry!

I just wanted to reach out to say thank you and to compliment you on your Level II Education Class. I have had the misfortune to go through other programs and found no benefit other than checking the box for completion required by the courts. I found your class to be not only educational but more importantly, I also found a reason never to drink and drive again.

The other classes I have taken were focused more on a notebook. They taught facts, figures, and statistics related to drinking and driving. It appeared as if they thought scaring me with numbers would be a deterrent. The class dynamics were also miserable, with everyone’s intention only to get out of there as quickly as possible. This included the staff.

What makes your class better started with you and your passion and desire to help others. This process is difficult to navigate and it is made much easier through the sharing of stories and experiences of the other class members. Your format that requires all participants to share their experience with the ability for others to ask questions is what I found most beneficial. As I listened to other’s stories and reflected on my own situation I realized the negative impact our actions had on others. This is not reflected in BAC levels, legal costs, or auto accident details. It is the stories of the suffering of children, families, friends, and strangers who did nothing wrong but are so affected by the bad decisions of others.
