In 2009, Kerry began an addiction counseling program at Denver Health. Here, she gained the expertise and education in working with individuals that had their lives turned upside down by drugs and alcohol. In her coursework, which included therapies used to address significant emotional, mental, and spiritual counseling techniques, Kerry began to blend her personal experience and struggles with her education. Kerry then began an internship in 2010 with Genesis Counseling to gain the professional experience as an addiction counselor. With the help and support of Genesis’s experienced counselors, Kerry thrived in this field and realized that she had reached her calling. With a passion and commitment to supporting individuals through adversity, Kerry began teaching groups such as Level II, anger management, theft, life skills, and Moral Reconation Therapy (MRT). Kerry discovered how to meet clients where they are at and restore structure and hope with true and tried ways. Kerry genuinely understands the struggle that we go through in life; however, she also understands that these struggles are opportunities to build endurance, character, and value for what lies ahead.
